Laurie Jackson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Adjunct Faculty at Cambridge College with a specialty in trauma + mindfulness. She has spent her career listening and relating to people during difficult times from a myriad of backgrounds. At her first talk in 2016, Laurie spoke about her own personal challenges of loss, depression + suffering. The talk included how her own journey of suffering via counseling and mindfulness practice brought incredible insight, growth and psychological resilience. She has continued to be committed to understanding suffering, the ways that are most helpful to relate to it and also remains driven to normalize the human experience (the reason for community events as such). The evening will include a conversation on the common humanity we all share with suffering as well as the benefits of self-compassion to transform it. This talk will offer time to participants for questions related to the discussion.
